Build the whole men's grooming kit once

Picks made from published manufacturer specifications, scores with the arithmetic printed underneath, and a cost-per-shave calculator that uses your prices rather than numbers we made up. For somebody leaving cartridge razors who wants the setup decided.

We have not tested any of this, and we say so

Everybody in this category says they tested forty razors. We have tested none, we own none, and there is no test bathroom. What we do instead is compile what the manufacturers publish, compute how long a pack actually lasts, print the working under every score, and cite the source on every specification. You can check all of it, which is not something a number out of five lets you do.

The picks

What we would buy in each category

One winner per roundup, each labeled with the question it won. The buy button is here rather than three clicks in, because a site you cannot buy from is a site with nothing to say.

What we would buy in each category

No live price is currently verified, so every button here reads Check price instead of a number we cannot stand behind. Why we do it that way.

Sections

Six sections, four of them filled

Hair and Body are reserved rather than hidden. They are real pages that say what they will cover and point at the closest thing that already exists, because moving URLs later is worse than planning for them now.

The Routine

The entire setup decided in one page: razor, blades, lather, brush, post-shave, beard and skin. Every competitor answers “which product should I buy”. This answers “what should my whole setup be”, which is the question our reader is actually asking.

The method

What a shave actually costs

Nobody in this category publishes cost per shave, and it is the whole economic argument for leaving cartridges. We publish the consumption model, the formula and every assumption as an editable field. You supply the prices; the arithmetic is ours and it is checkable.

How this is funded

Affiliate links, and nothing else

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through a link here it costs you nothing extra, and it does not change the order of the picks - the order is computed from the axes and the working is printed under every score. No brand has paid for a placement, we accept no free products, and where we would earn nothing on something we recommend, the page says so.

At 5 shaves a week, the arithmetic on this site adds up to a real number - and it is your number rather than ours, because you put the prices in.
